Success Stories: TCube Solutions

Home to giants like BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Colonial Life and Aflac, Columbia is known worldwide as a hotbed for insurance technology. There’s expertise in just about every aspect of the industry – and that’s what enabled the growth of one of Columbia’s most recent success stories, TCube Solutions.

Founder Sam McGuckin worked in the Columbia office of prominent property & casualty software developer Duck Creek Technologies, where he realized there was a need for streamlined delivery and implementation of the company’s products. In 2007, McGuckin spun off TCube Solutions to meet that need, launching operations in the UofSC/Columbia Technology Incubator. Growth was rapid. Duck Creek quickly recognized that TCube could implement their products better than their own internal teams. Fueled by a pipeline of talented graduates from the University of South Carolina, TCube outgrew the Incubator space and by 2017, employed over 250 people.

TCube’s story didn’t end with their 2017 acquisition by Paris-based consultancy Capgemini. Recognizing the entrepreneurial spirit and strong talent pool that made TCube a success in the first place, Capgemini has built on their Duck Creek practice here in Columbia. Continued expansion has added cybersecurity and AI global centers of excellence serving a wide range of major corporations.
